London College of Fashion, Makeup Workshop Day 1

On Tuesday 19th August I attended the Makeup Workshop course at the London College of Fashion. On the first day we found out how to prepare the skin, for makeup by using an oil cleanser and a moisturiser. We then also used Corrective Techniques to suit the person we were working on, for example creating a peach shade of concealer to use under the eyes to counteract the dark shades.

We next created a 'no makeup look', by applying a light coverage foundation to the skin to even out the skin tone, concealing any imperfections, applying a cream blush as these look most natural, lightly filling in the eyebrows to give definition to the face, and lastly a light layering of mascara.
We also mastered how to contour and highlight the face, we were also shown very dramatic contouring and highlighting using black and white creams.

The first day, of this three day course, was about mastering the basics. All of the products we used were from MAC, so it was good to try out different products that you wouldn't usually get to try. After we completed our Makeup looks on each other, we were then given feedback on tell us what we could improve on and what was good about the look. At the start of the course it was different to be doing someone else's makeup, but good to try out different skin tones other than my own. At the start of each session we were given a demonstration of what we would be doing, and what products we should use.

At end of the first day I was very excited about what the next two days would bring.

Beauty and Hair Haul

If I purchase some things from Mac I usually like to order online, but this time I decided to go in to the shop and this is what I came out with. I firstly got the ProLongwear Paint Pot in the shade Constructivist, a beautiful deep brown shade in a cream form, perfect as a base or an all over lid colour from Mac this cost £15.50.

I next got the ProLongwear blush in the colour Eternal Sun, I decided to get this blush as I wanted to use it as a little contour in the hollows of the cheeks. It is also the perfect colour for a natural flush flush on the cheeks. The ProLongwear blushes are £20.
The last two things I got from Mac were from their sized to go range, which offers miniature sized products that are perfect, for travelling or wanting to try out new things without paying the full price. I first got Zoom Lash the perfect mascara to add length and volume to your lashes. I also got the pigment in the colour Old Gold, which is a perfect mixture of green and gold, all of the sized to go products are £10 each.

The next things I got are from Essence a brand that I love at the moment. I first got the Kiss Care Love lip balm in the shade Fruit Crush, a lip balm that leaves lips shiny and nourished. The lip balm also smells AMAZING it is also at a great price of £1.30.

I also got another Colour and Go nail polish as I love them, this colour is in the shade 'you wow'd me again' a unique shade that looks blue but has a green and purple reflex to it. All of the nail polishes are £1.60.
I next got the 3D eyes shadow in the colour 'irresistible vanilla latte', a duo eye shadow with one colour presented with a rippled effect. Both of these eye shadows offer a shimmer to the eye, they are also nicely pigmented for the price of £2.80.
The last thing I got from Essence was the Silky Touch blush in the colour 'Babydoll', a beautiful matte pinky peach shade that has a great colour pay off, with a great price of £2.50.

The last product I got was a gift from my Nan, which is the Moroccanoil Treatment in 125ml. It is my favourite hair care product as it cares for dry hair , and leaves it feeling and looking healthy. I like to use this on wet hair focusing on the ends as they are the parts that get most dry and damaged.

Maybelline Baby Lips Electro

When I heard the Electro Baby Lips were finally coming out in the UK, I was so excited and I knew I had to get my hands on them. So when they were buy one get one half price in Superdrug I finally got my hands on them.

I first of all got the colour Strike a Rose (love the name), a beautiful bright pink shade that will instantly brighten up any look. Swatched on the back of my hand it is a beautiful neon pink, but not too bright that it is too much.

The next colour I got was Pink Shock, a little bit darker than Strike a Rose and when swatched on the back of my hand, it comes across as a pinky purple shade but on the lips is a bit of a darker pink. A perfect lip shade to take us in to the winter months.

Overall I love all the Maybelline Baby Lips and these Electro shades are amazing, as they have a great colour pay off on the lips and they also feel very nourishing on the lips whilst adding some colour. Baby Lips are also be my go to lip products.

Colour of the moment

Blue seems to be the colour of the moment with Marc Jacobs, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu and Prada (just to name a few), sending their models down the catwalk with a shade of blue on their eyes, whether it be in the form of an eyeliner or an all over lid colour. In this post I'm going to show you how to rock the blue trend, for a day or an evening look.

To transform your regular makeup look I would a simple blue eyeliner on the eye would do the trick, as it would instantly transform your look. I would also recommend trying different shades of blue to find the right the right colour for you. For this look you can use liquid, gel, or pencil eyeliners but for me I used MAC eye shadow in Sea and Sky, I wetted my brush to make the colour more vibrant and glide on to the eye easier. When using this technique I would recommend using a Synthetic brush as it will not damage the brush hairs.

When taking this look from day to night I would recommend winging the eyeliner out to create a cat eye effect, it would look perfect to take a makeup look from day time to the night time. To finish off this evening look I would recommend applying some gloss, just with a hint of colour because you don't want to take the attention off the eyes.

Hopefully you can try out the blue eyeliner in your makeup look.

July Favourites

WOW, as July has already finished and we now enter August , it is time to share with you my favourites of the month.

I firstly start off with L'Oreal True Match foundation, which provides medium coverage with a satin finish, and also leaves the skin looking flawless. This is a great foundation from the high street as it gives good coverage, an amazing colour range and a great price of £10.
My next favourite is the Essence I stage eye shadow primer, I have included this in my favourites as it helps to keep my eye shadow in place all day long, as it is a slightly tinted colour it helps to cancel out any redness and also conceal any veins. Also I have found out is that a little goes along way with this product.
My next July favourite is the MAC 263 brush, which I love to use with my eyebrow powder as it is small and angled it is easy to re-create eyebrow hairs, to give natural and full looking eyebrows.
Another product from Essence is the blush up in Heat Wave, which gives you a choice of coral or a pink flush of colour. I love this product as it can allow you to have a natural or intense flush of colour, it is also the perfect blush for summer as it is brightly coloured and it will also brighten up any complexion.
My last product from Essence is the Colour and Go nail polish in the colour Redvolution, which I am in love with as it is a lovely bright red perfect for anyone and also perfect for summer.
My last favourite of the month is the Soap and Glory Butter Yourself Moisture Lotion (wow what a name), a gorgeous body lotion that melts on to the skin leaving you with perfectly moisturised skin and a lovely fruity scent
I hope that you have enjoyed this post, and you can tweet me any suggestions of posts you would like to see.
